Platelet Donation Requirements
Requirements
- Healthy donor, usually 18–65 years.
- Minimum weight commonly 50 kg.
- Good platelet count after screening.
- No fever, infection, or recent major illness.
Matching
- ABO-compatible platelets are preferred.
- HLA-matched or crossmatched platelets may be needed for repeated transfusions.
